Raúl Manrupe is a researcher specialized in cinema and mass media, documentary filmmaker, social communicator and cultural manager Alongside Alejandra Portela, he co-wrote “Un diccionario de films argentinos” (A Dictionary of Argentine Films), which, with three volumes and one in preparation, is a reference work for researchers, often cited in Wikipedia. Author of “Breve historia del dibujo animado en Argentina” (A Brief History of Cartoon in Argentina), the only book dedicated to the history of local animated films. Co-author with Raquel Quintana of the volume “Afiches del Peronismo” (Peronism Posters). Author of the chapter dedicated to Advertising and Graphic Design in the book “Ideas Materiales, Arte y Diseño en los 60’s” (Material Ideas, Art and Design in the 60’s). At the Museo del Cine Pablo C. Ducrós Hicken, he makes research in the archives of historical advertising and cartoons, and curates, among others, the exhibition “101 años de animación argentina” (101 years of Argentine animation) and cycles at BAFICI and Mar del Plata. Previously he was in charge of the film area at the Centro Cultural Rojas/UBA, programming cycles and courses. At Lumiton Usina he is in charge of guided tours about the history of the mythical studio. . With three decades of experience in advertising agencies such as Ogilvy or McCann and national and international awards, he filmed the independent feature film “Picsa”, a documentary. He directed an exhibition on Ingmar Bergman’s presence in Argentina within the framework of the Mar del Plata Film Festival, mounted in 2020 at the Quinta Trabucco in Vicente López and the Museum of Memory. As a teacher he has taught courses at ENERC, UNTREF, UBA, HBO Olé and Warner Channel among others. Pioneer of the democratization of information in the networks, he manages the FB fanpage Historia de la Publicidad (18,000 followers).
