Su mundo gira alrededor de sus propios chismes. La mujer es una partera que atiende en una estancia a una ni\u00f1a reci\u00e9n nacida fruto de una relaci\u00f3n ileg\u00edtima, y luchar\u00e1 por retenerla. Esto cambiar\u00e1 su vida para siempre. Fue exhibida el 7\/9\/1939 con el t\u00edtulo de \u00abLa Pettezola\u00bb en la VI Edici\u00f3n del Festival Cinematogr\u00e1fico Internacional de Venecia (Italia), fuera de concurso y en car\u00e1cter no oficial, pese a la negativa del Instituto Cinematogr\u00e1fico Argentino (Comisi\u00f3n Nacional de Cultura).
