La m\u00fasica de Enrique Delfino y Miguel Cal\u00f3 sirve para que Manuel Romero nos describa la vida del puerto, de los cafetines y los cabarets. La historia gira alrededor del personaje de Mercedes Simone \u201cLa dama del tango\u201d que es secundada entre otros por Tito Lusiardo y Hugo del Carril, en su primera incursi\u00f3n en el cine. Un oficial de marina (Pedro Maratea) se compadece de una cancionista provinciana (Simone) que es seducida por un malevo (Floren Delbene) que trata de adue\u00f1arse de ella.
