On this occasion, they are presenting some tracks from their new album Stick Shot, which contains original compositions by each of its members and pays homage to Thelonious Monk.<\/p>\n<p>Their previous three albums received acclaim: &#8220;Arca Rusa &#8211; Epsa, 2013&#8221;; &#8220;Transmutaci\u00f3n &#8211; Club del Disco, 2015,&#8221; winner of the 2016 Gardel Award for Best Jazz Album; and &#8220;Rata &#8211; Club del Disco, 2019,&#8221; winner of the 2020 Gardel Award for Best Jazz Album. While Arca Rusa offered a continuous experience akin to a long sequence shot, inspired by the film by Alejandro Sokurov shot at the Hermitage Palace in St. Petersburg, Transmutaci\u00f3n focused on the displacement and juxtaposition of heterogeneous rhythmic cells, and &#8220;Rata&#8221; emphasized melodies, synthesis, and sensoriality. In this new release titled Stick Shot, the trio presents inspired and mature musicality, a product of their over ten years of musical understanding.<\/p>\n<p>Recorded in a single day, with many tracks being first or second takes, Lucio Balduini&#8217;s masterly guitar and Dami\u00e1n Fogiel&#8217;s incredible saxophone intertwine in glorious rhythmic-melodic counterpoints, organically woven by Pipi Piazzolla&#8217;s drums. The trio showcases a wide range of influences across the nine tracks on the album, which also features a vinyl edition.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Daniel &#8216;Pipi&#8217; Piazzolla&#8217;s Bio<\/strong><br \/>\nStudied with Rolando Picardi, Efrain Toro, Joe Porcaro, Casey Scheuerell, Ralph Humphrey, Fernando Mart\u00ednez, Sebastian Peycer\u00e9, Eduardo Casalla, Fernando Valles, Horacio L\u00f3pez, Robbie Ameen, Carlos Riganti, Johnathan Blake, Kenny Washington, Rodney Green, Adam Nussbaum, etc.<\/p>\n<p>He has performed in over 40 countries and with globally recognized artists such as Paquito D\u2019Rivera, Ute Lemper, Guillermo Klein, Aaron Goldberg, Bill McHenry, Miguel Zen\u00f3n, Hugo Fattoruso, Marty Friedman, Ben Monder, Mike Mossman, Diego Urcola, Juan Cruz de Urquiza, Richard Nant, Luis Bonilla, Gary Valente, Arturo O\u2019Farrill Afro Latin Jazz Big Band, Scott Robinson, Dave Samuels, Elena Roger, Lito Vitale, Pablo Aslan, Ligia Piro, Carlos Cutaia, Raul Lavi\u00e9, Ernesto Snajer, Anders Jormin, Villu Vesky, Tiit Kalluste, Jos\u00e9 \u00c1ngel Trelles, Susana Rinaldi, Gustavo Bergalli, Minino Garay, Mar\u00eda Estela Monti, Escalandrum, Fernando Suarez Paz, Pablo Ziegler, Fern\u00e1ndez 4, Hern\u00e1n Jacinto, Lucio Balduini, H\u00e9ctor Console, Nicol\u00e1s Guerschberg, Horacio Malvicino, Sexteto Mayor, Ute Lemper, etc.<\/p>\n<p>With his group Escalandrum, he won 9 Gardel Awards and 1 Gardel de Oro (the highest distinction in the Argentinian music industry), making them the first jazz group to achieve such recognition. Escalandrum was also nominated for the Latin Grammys. The group has a 21-year history and has recorded 14 albums.
