VICENTE LÓPEZ, UNESCO CREATIVE CITY OF CINEMA 2023

Vicente López has earned the title of UNESCO’s Creative City of Cinema.

Since 2015, the Lumiton Project, under the auspices of the Vicente López Secretariat of Culture, has been promoting the enhancement of the municipality as a City of Cinema and Munro as an Audiovisual Hub. Today, we are pleased to announce that Vicente López has been chosen, along with 54 other cities from around the world, to be a part of the UNESCO Creative Cities Network.

According to UNESCO, “These new cities have been recognized for their strong commitment to harnessing culture and creativity as integral parts of their development strategies, as well as for demonstrating innovative practices in urban planning.”

“The cities in our UNESCO Creative Cities Network are at the forefront of improving access to culture and harnessing the power of creativity for resilience and urban development,” stated Audrey Azoulay, Director-General of UNESCO.

In this way, by reclaiming its history, memory, and identity and through the preservation, digitization, and restoration of heritage, on this 92nd anniversary, we give new meaning to the dream of the “Locos de la Azotea” who, on October 31, 1931, founded S.A. Radiocinematográfica Argentina Lumitonchanging the history of Argentine cinema.
